Armpit Deep in Video Game Collecting FEAT. The Game Deflators | Episode 68 | Grief Burrito

A few months ago I came across another podcast called The Game Deflators. They had a really interesting concept for a show where they followed the increasing and decreasing value of the games in their collections! I was hooked right away!

This week we decided to have John and Ryan come on the show to talk about what it's like to have a very large collection of physical games and how they go about valuing them. It seems that as your collection grows you develop your library to such a substantial point that you may go years before even getting to play the games that you've bought. But with that comes the question; how do you choose what to collect? We came to the unanimous decision that you should collect what you love!  John's favorite franchise, and something he has a number of pieces dedicated to is Donkey Kong, the swinging ape that has been a staple of Nintendo since the 1980's. No one can disagree that Donkey Kong helped kick off the hype of video gaming with the help of it's original Arcade Cabinet but it really became the household monster monkey (I know he's not a monkey but that just felt so nice to write...) we all know once we reached the SNES and the amazing Donkey Kong Country! John even owns a Donkey Kong styled SNES! DAMN!

For the past few months I'd seen clips floating round of a game similar in play style to Lylat Wars (Starfox 64 for international readers). Greeted & Treated When you boot up the game you're greeted with a classic SNES era title screen which is very reminiscent of Megaman-X and music that twigs my childhood strings as the first two chords are the same as Lylat Wars' intro screen chime in. Weirdly Sexual Moments In Video Games | Episode 69 (NOICE) | Grief Burrito

Hey everyone! Tomorrow morning marks the release of episode 69,  you'll be joining the Burrito Bois Hazz & Jordan as they discuss weirdly sexual moments in video games... and wow there are some weird ones...  They'll be visiting some of the most known like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and it's sky sex scenes in a fantasy world, Lolipop Chainsaw and it's skirt peeping achievements, Atari 2600 and it's weird games like Xman, Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em, and even Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain and it's odd shower scenes. Not to mention some obscure ones like "The Penetrator" from Saints Row, Shadow Warrior and its Dragon Shcween, The Last of Us 2 and even My Name Is Mayo... I was actually surprised to be honest how many weird and sexual things are in games. Super Mario Bros The Movie - Retrospective!

This week we had the pleasure of watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie from ye olde 1993! This movie is notorious for being the herald of the bad video game movie trend but to be honest I feel like it gets a bit of a hard time! Let's get into a little background and trivia surrounding the movie before we break it down; Both Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo were drunk through most of the filming process to get through the bad experience. And Hoskins apparently didnt even know this was based on a game until his son asked what he was filming and then showed him the game on his NES! This sounds like it was a pretty dangerous movie to shoot if I'm honest. Starting with Bob Hoskins breaking his finger in one of the early scenes when the van door slammed by Leguizamo caught it so he's wearing a skin coloured cast for the entire film which I never noticed. He also got and this is a quote “stabbed four times, electrocuted and nearly drowned. And thats just what happened to me.”
